Café and Classical is classical piano concert series, performed on upright pianos in cafés located in cities across Oregon and Washington. The performers are serious artists such as music students and graduates at the beginning of their musical career, working pianists in the middle of their career (music teachers, for example), and veteran concert pianists who don’t want to stop performing. The pianists perform full-length concert programs in 6 different cafés in the Northwest over the course of 2 or 3 weekends. ​

Our generous partners, the café owners, make this series possible by letting us use their place, and their public pianos, for free. We voluntarily pay the cost of tuning and repairing their pianos, and we try to create a new, inviting and enjoyable atmosphere for the café’s existing clientele, while also trying to attract an additional classical music-enthused audience. We ask the concert attendees to buy food and/or drink from the cafés as part of their admission price, to support the cafés.
